Affordable Housing & Fair Development in District 2

District 2 is one of the most affluent parts of South Fulton, yet too many families here are being priced out, hit with unfair insurance premiums, or left with poorly built homes that lose value. We need balance — housing that works for seniors, working families, and young professionals without lowering the standard of our neighborhoods.

As your City Councilmember, I will:

  • Expand income-based housing options that allow residents to qualify based on income verification (through tools like Plaid) rather than outdated credit checks. I will also urge landlords, apartment owners, and developers to add fintech tools into their rental criteria. These tools provide a fairer measure of affordability and give property owners more confidence in tenant stability — especially when paired with traditional methods.

  • Require accountability from builders by holding hearings on construction quality, mandating stronger code enforcement, and ensuring insurance companies who back builders are also held responsible when homes fail.

  • Push for incentives that create “mixed-income” developments in District 2, so we don’t segregate affordable housing away from high-value areas.

  • Turn vacant commercial space into opportunity by investigating why new plazas and strip malls sit empty for 3–4 years and making sure landlords aren’t unfairly denying small businesses and entrepreneurs who want to rent.

  • Support senior-friendly housing with no-credit-check leases, fair rent protections, and access to transportation so our seniors can age in place with dignity.

  • Launch a Housing Data Transparency Initiative to identify who is being denied access to homes, apartments, or insurance coverage in District 2 — and hold bad actors accountable.

South Fulton should be a city where families can own, rent, and stay — not a place where developers profit while residents struggle. In District 2, we can set the tone by showing how affordable housing, fair building practices, and strong neighborhoods all work together to lift our entire city
